About Me!

Hi, I'm Taylor (They/Them)

I'm a graphic designer, illustrator and printmaker based in Leicester.

I love to create bold, eye catching work and experiment with different techniques and media. I like to combine printmaking techniques within my digital graphic design work to make something that really stands out.

Design is more than just creating something that looks nice - it should have purpose. Many of my projects have a wider social impact - with focuses on disability rights, the environment and LGBTQ+ rights.

Why I do what I do:

I'm originally from Bradford in West Yorkshire - but moved to Leicester in 2022 to do my Graphic Design and Illustration Degree at De Montfort University.

Before uni, I studied Graphic Communication, Fine art and psychology at a Level. I've found that being knowledgeable and interested in mental health helps me be conscious in the design decisions I make and the impact it has on the audience. Design can be an amazing tool in mental health space, and the work we create can directly improve someone's life. My StyleAble Zine was created to help increase confidence and self esteem for people who use mobility aids. The #Make_The_NHS_Accessible  took some very traumatic accounts of medical neglect, and turned them into a useful resource to educate and advocate for change.

Digital accessibility is very important to me - I try to make my content as accessible as possible. This includes giving audio versions of written text, using good colour contrast and optimising social media content to be usable for those with screen readers. Both my NHS project and StyleAbleZine feature full audio described editions. My final year design research project talked about some of these issues and how designers represent disabled people in their work.
